Arrangements and original compositions

I'm a violist.

I sit in concerts, constantly mentally arranging things for viola so I can play it. Below you will find some of the works I've arranged and even recorded.  Not everything is listed here, so just ask if you don't see something you may have heard me confiscate for viola in concert!

For Violin and Viola

Robert Fuchs- 12 Duette Op. 60 for violin and viola

Parts and Score. PDF also available.

The 12 Duette Op.60 are short vignettes of a Vienna of the 1890's in which one can hear musical foreshadowing of his more famous pupils Mahler and Zemlinsky. Additionally, so well crafted are the voices and timbers that unlike many violin and viola duos which make the listener all too aware that only two instruments are playing, the 12 Duette often sound like a much larger ensemble.

This edition by MP2 Music was prepared by the Miller-Porfiris Duo in advance of their 2015 critically acclaimed recording. It comes after research into the only existing manuscript of a transcription of the piece held by the Austrian National Library. It includes a score and parts with revised markings.

Sarasate arr. Porfiris “Pleyera” for violin and viola

There are four books of Spanish Dances for violin and piano by Pablo de Sarasate. They were not officially organized by the composer as such, but all draw upon the dances and songs of Spain. "Pleyera" provides a sample of the "cante jondo" style, a kind of Andalusian vocal flamenco.

This version gives much of the beautiful lilting tune to the viola.
